THE RIDE: A circumnavigation around the Southern Ghats of India

Why Bike Around India for CAF?
To pull out of our comfort zone to raise global awareness to CAF; to do something requiring us to commit every ounce of ourselves to complete; to have a glimpse of the mental and physical obstacles challenged athletes must face.

The Route
From January 21 - February 28th, (or thereabouts) Julie Gildred and Marcus Scully, will circumnavigate the Sourthern Ghats of India.  More than 2,100 km from Chennai (Madras) to Goa,  through rural towns, big cities, across rivers to hilltop towns.  Two bikes, 6 panniers,  no sag wagon, some lycra shorts and one common goal: to change the world by educating and strengthening the minds and bodies of individuals with physical disabilities.

For those of you that know us, you won't be surprised to learn there really is no daily plan.  Conditions will dictate our daily distances and we hope to stop at a few ashrams to loosen our tight legs.  The details of our trip will unfold daily.  If you want to follow our excursion, we'll be blogging regularly (or as consistently as cybercafes in remote villages of a developing country will permit).  To receive our writings about the adventure, enter your email address on the home page of our blog site http://juliegildred.bikeridetours.com.
